ISDC Annual Scientific Meeting entitled ‘Managing the Child Patient’ took place on Friday 20 May 2022 in the Midlands Park Hotel Port Laoise. Speakers included Dr Evelina Kratunova clinical associate professor in paediatric dentistry at the College of Dentistry, University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) and Dr Abigail Moore a Paediatric Dentist working a practice limited to Paediatric dentistry in the Hermitage Medical Clinic in Dublin.
Presentations for the O Mullane Prize also took place on the day. This Prize Competition is open to any person or group associated with the provision or organisation of dental care for children in Ireland. Five finalists were selected by the ISDC Scientific committee; Brian Maloney, Sinead Nic Ghearailt, Rebecca Courtney, Robyn Crowley and Timothy You Da Tan. The winner of the O’Mullane prize was selected by a judging panel based on the abstract and presentation. This year’s winner was Rebecca Courtney with her presentation entitled ‘Toothache and heartache – a case of caries causing infective endocarditis’. One of the ISDC’s founding members and dedicated supporters Professor O’ Mullane was present on the day to announce the winner and present the O’Mullane Medal. There was also two poster presentations on the day by Varsha Lal and Laura Howard.
